Billy Miller has passed away. He was a veteran soap actor who won three Daytime Emmys for his work on The Young and the Restless and General Hospital. He was 43.

Richie Novak, a Tulsa native from Oklahoma, entered the daytime television arena in 2007, when he joined All My Children. Billy Abbott’s breakout role on Young and the Restless was a result of a two-year stint in the ABC soap opera. He was the fourth actor who played Billy in CBS’ most popular drama, but he made it his own. In fact, during the six years he spent on the show from 2008 to 2014, he won 3 Daytime Emmys: two for Outstanding Supporting Actors and one for Outstanding Leading Actor.

Miller died just two days before he would have turned 44.

Miller moved to General Hospital in 2014 and took over Steve Burton’s role as Jason Morgan/Drew Cain. Miller left ABC’s soap opera in 2019.

Michael Muhney, a Y&R grad who worked on Billy Miller on X (the social media platform formerly called Twitter), wrote: “You brightened up every room with a smile.” Your quiet intensity onscreen is only second to your gentle kindness in private. You were braver, bolder and bigger than life itself. You were legend. “There is no ending to this final cliffhanger. The wings you have spent your life earning have carried up to that wonderful spot in the sky.”

Billy Miller’s credits in primetime include guest appearances on CSI: NY and Justified. He also appeared as a character on Ringer, Major Crimess, Suits, Ray Donovan, Justified and Ringer. Miller also appeared in the first season Apple TV+ drama Truth Be Told, playing the husband of Lizzy’s Lanie.
